You can imagine with 5 people in the house that we go through quite a bit of laundry every week! Especially when you add in all the towels, washcloths, sheets, on top of our clothes....YIKES!
So, the hubby and I came up with a new way to get the laundry done in our house. I'm calling it a laundry revolution!
The kids have already been responsible for doing their own laundry. They each have their own laundry baskets in their rooms, which cuts down on separating duty! They sort their clothes and put them in the washing machine. My daughter (10 years old) can add her own laundry detergent and start the machine. I help my youngest son (8 years old) and my oldest son (12 years old and blind). When the machine is done, they each can switch out the laundry to the dryer and start it on the right cycle. When done, they get their clothes out, fold them, and put them away :)
Our new plan is to designate specific days for each person!
Mondays: Sheets/towels
Tuesdays: (Hubby and mine)whites/reds...not together ;)
Wednesdays: Isaiah
Thursdays: Elizabeth
Fridays: Andrew
Saturdays: (Hubby and mine) colors
Sundays: DAY OF REST!!!!
Already this has proved amazing as everyone knows what the expectations are! And the kids know that on their day they are to get their laundry done before we start school. Woo-hoo for the simple things that make things easier!
